Tom’s original plan was to leave school after studying A levels and then enrol in Cardiff University to become a Chartered Physiotherapist. After doing the course for a few weeks, he decided that it wasn’t for him.
After doing research into different career paths and exploring the different industries, he came across the idea of becoming a Financial Adviser. Fortunately for him, he came across Penguin in 2022 and enquired about undertaking some work experience to ensure this career path was for him.
We were more than happy to welcome him to the office and after his time with us, he decided that this was absolutely the route that he would like to take due to the fantastic environment inside Penguin and his own interests and passion of Finance. It was perfect timing for us, as we were already looking for the next person to join Penguin, so we offered him a position to join the Technical Team. Tom accepted straight away and is excited to begin his career with us.
In his spare time, he is often playing football or recovering, as he’s very injury prone so rehabilitation is a regular occurrence,. You’ll also find him watching football whether that be Cardiff City or any Premier League game he can possibly watch. He also loves making plans with his mates as it’s one of the best things to do – whether that be a late night drive singing teenage girl songs or even a Starbucks.
He will also take any given opportunity to travel to somewhere new and explore – that is the peak of life.
1. What’s the craziest thing you’ve done?
Booked a holiday on a Saturday night to Amsterdam and ended up going the very next morning. It turned out to be one of the best and certainly the most questionable places I’ve ever been to, however it was an experience to remember!
2. What’s the best thing you’ve spent money on?
A trip to Iceland to see the Northern Lights, once in a lifetime opportunity and would go again.
3. The worst?
Buying multiple £30 doubles in Ibiza, never again.
4. What’s your favourite book?
The Wim Hof book.
5. If you’re not working, where will we find you?
You’ll either find me on a football pitch, watching football or somewhere spontaneously booked in Europe.
