Jaia Sandhu

Jaia is Penguin’s dynamic AI and Data Officer, known for her friendly and positive approach. She brings a rich tapestry of experience in project management, education, and customer service. Her diverse background, paired with a degree in English Literature from the University of Nottingham, has finely tuned her ability to connect warmly with clients, understand their unique needs, and communicate effectively. 

Before joining the Penguin team, Jaia excelled in various roles including college lecturer, communications, copywriter, and project manager. This varied career has helped her develop an interest in systems, processes and the tools that help deliver service through innovative data-driven strategies. An advocate for the transformative power of AI, Jaia is enthusiastic about leveraging technology to create a positive impact in the industry. 

Jaia is a proponent of open communication and teamwork and her commitment to building enduring relationships is matched only by her passion for continuous learning. Currently, she is sharpening her prompt engineering skills, staying abreast of the latest digital advancements to further enrich her contributions to the team. 

 Away from professional endeavours, Jaia embraces her creative hobbies. Whether it’s producing engaging content for her YouTube channel, writing, or planning her next travel adventure, you can find her keeping things fresh and exciting.

1. What’s the craziest thing you’ve done?

My husband and I moved to Portugal and ended up living there for 7 years. It was a spontaneous decision which resulted in an incredible and deeply enriching period of my life. Travel! 

2. What’s the best thing you’ve spent money on?

I believe travel is one of the best ways to broaden your perspective and understanding of the world. I really enjoy meeting new people and getting to experience different languages, cultures and food. 

3. The worst?

I don’t have any regrets – except a pair of retro roller skates which required a certain level of balance that I do not possess. Needless to say, they were quickly gifted! 

4. What’s your favourite book?

I am an avid reader and grew up adoring Latin American writers and poets such as Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Isabella Allende and Pablo Neruda. I also love the classics and enjoy a good romance novel! 

5. If you’re not working, where will we find you?

Enjoying life with family and friends or pottering about the garden with my cat following closely behind. I have a love for meditation and yoga as well as traveling, playing the bass and working on my literary pursuits.
