When fifty-seven year old Matthew recovered from a serious illness, he knew it was time to understand his financial options and how best he could manage them should he have to retire.
“Following a serious illness, I realised that I needed to understand what my options were and how best I could manage them should I need to retire, or indeed when I wanted to retire.
I still had a substantial mortgage and also had a variety of different pensions from the different companies I had worked for in the past.
I really had no idea how this translated into firstly, achieving a comfortable pension, and secondly, how much longer I’d need to work to achieve it.
Perfect timing for one of the best decisions I’ve ever made
It was around this time that I received a publication through the post regarding an upcoming seminar by Craig Palfrey CFPCM of Penguin Wealth Financial Planning at a local hotel about pensions and investments. The timing was perfect, and I have to say, attending it was one of the best decisions I’ve made.
When do you want to retire?
Shortly after the excellent seminar, I arranged a meeting with Penguin. When we met, we discussed my personal situation, from which I was clearly and expertly provided with the guidance and direction I needed to not only rearrange my personal finances but also give me a clear goal towards retirement. I’ll never forget one of the first questions I was asked; “when do you want to retire?” I’d always thought that it would be more a question of when can I retire?
I’m now in a position of feeling confident about the future with a clear understanding of my financial situation. My Financial Planner has successfully rearranged my finances and just as importantly, monitors them to ensure I maximise their potential.
Contact a professional
I would highly recommend that anybody who, like me, was unsure about their current financial situation, and needs expert guidance and support to contact a professional.
As I mentioned already, it was one of the best decisions I have ever made!”
